I have a ony vaio lap top which I bought 6 months ago. Its is a really good one that cost me £800. I want it to go wireless, and it is wlan enabled. When I first got it a bought linkys wireless-g and linkys wireless g usb network adapter with speed boster, which cost me £100 but I couldnt set it up, even after speaking to a expert on teh phone for hours. So I gave up. Last week I got a wireless router from bt, and te sales advisor said thats all I would need to go wireless, but after yet again hours it still would not work, si I rang bt last night and spoke to someone who sai that maybe I needed a card to go in my computer, to work with the wireless router (its a by voyager 2500v wireless adsl voice router). I thought that is my computer was wlan enabled I wouldnt need anmything else? Do you think I need this certain card????? I asl because I dont want to buy this card if I dont really need it as its going to cost me another £45 on top of the 150 I have already spent. Help???
Have done it now. There is a card built into my computer, which was all I needed to know to be able to find and activate it. Didnt take long at all!!
Hi, I have a Compaq wireless and wireless network set up but I encountered a problem, on Thu night it was working fine then I switched laptop off, went back on Fri morning and it wasn’t working, the orange light is on saying wireless is de-activated and won’t switch on and when I click the wireless assistant it won’t open, nor does any network connections see the wireless yet I can detect the wireless via my mobile so I know the wireless is working in the room, I don’t know how to go about getting the wireless button on laptop to turn on?
Hi, when I click to enable it it says it is connecting but then comes up after 60 seconds to say disabled
When I try to check my wireless connection I get the following error message:
Windows cannot configure this wireless connection
And it tells me to see article 871122 in the Microsoft knowledge Base on Microsoft.com web site. I looked at the web site. And the web site asks me to do the following:
If your computer or your wireless network adapter did not come with its own wireless network software, follow these steps:
1.Click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK.
2.Click Network Connections.
3.In Network Connections, click to select your wireless connection, and then click Change settings of this connection.
4.On the Wireless Networks tab, click to select the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings check box.
In step four it talks about a Wireless Networks tab. I don’t see a Wireless Network tab.
Does anybody know how to fix this problem? I am running windows XP
